Evergreen Employee Goes out of his Way for Client

June 26 2013 Evergreen Insurance News, Main Blog admin

On May 21 I received an Email from one of my underwriters that the insurance company had done an inspection on a new account we had written on April 4. The list of recommendations had 10 items and 20 photos. I contacted the insured right away to guide him through the recommendations he had. We reviewed the list and determined what needed to be addressed and how. However one of the recommendations was an uneven and damaged sidewalk the insured informed me that he is not responsible since his city takes care of all the sidewalks.

Some back round: we saved the insured over one thousand dollars on binding this policy.

On May 28th I received the notice of cancellation to be effective June 28. I immediately contacted the insured and informed that we need to move quickly on getting everything taken are of. But there was one problem the sidewalk that was the responsibility of the city . After consulting with me manager he advised me to have the insured write a letter to the City to fix the sidewalk as it posses a hazard. We did not want this policy to cancel as we did not want him to have to pay the steep price he was paying before or worse yet even more than what he was paying. In addition I comforted the insured that we are going to do everything we can to  re-shop his policy in in case Tower will not reinstate. I tried every insurance company we deal with and found seven who said they could work on this. After 7 submissions I got back only 4 quotes each of them higher than what the insured previously paid, before coming to us.

By Monday June 24th all recommendations were addressed along with photos  but the sidewalk was still broken. I submitted all recommendations photos, receipts and letters to the carrier. They told me we had to wait till Wednesday June 26th for an answer. I called the insured told him exactly what was happening and comforted him that we are taking care of everything and even if they cancel we still have 2 and half days to give it our all.

On Tuesday the insured informed me the city came down and repaired the sidewalk and sent me a photo. I immediately sent the the photo to carrier explaining the city had repaired the sidewalk.

Wednesday June 26 my first phone call of the day to was find out if the insurance company reinstated. Still no reply from the underwriter. At 11:33 I received an email that the policy had been reinstated. 11:35 I called the Insured to share the great news!
