WHY DID MY PREMIUM INCREASE IF MY BUILDING VALUE HASN’T INCREASED?
Carriers constantly refine their rates, based on their overall loss history and other market shifts. Typically rate changes are increases. Sometimes, not very often, it would be a decrease. The same question can be asked about a rental increase, why did my landlord increase my rent? Am I a bad tenant? The answer is no, however, the market went up and so did my rent. I can try requesting a discount since I am I good tenant and I pay my rent in a timely manner, though the landlord can oppose. Same with insurance, we can try applying discounts but with no guarantees.
